An homage to King Derby (Tazmi, 1981), rebuilt from scratch. Its rules and payout logic follow the original, tuned so the machine actually pays out its rate (the exact 1981 logic is in the operator drawer), and its race is run quicker; every pixel, note and line of code is new. The race music is a new arrangement of Rossini’s William Tell Overture (1829), which is in the public domain.

Two screens: Classic, the 1981 pixel picture (with an optional CRT tube), and Modern, an HD-2D broadcast with a lit 3D course, new high-resolution pixel runners, a different time of day each race, a grand countdown into a full-page race and a recorded soundtrack inspired by the William Tell galop, made with ElevenLabs.

Free play. The credits are imaginary, so nothing can be bought, cashed out or won.

Keys: QWERT ASDF GHZ XC V bet, 1/2/3 credits per press (1×, 10×, 100×, for bets and for adding credit), L last bet, 5 add credit, P cuci (cash out), Esc back to the cabinet from a full-page race.
